Luis Fueyo MacDonald’s work experience in conservation issues dates back to 1979. In that year he received training under a joint program of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), aimed at evaluating the fishery resources of Mexico’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). For years, he was a researcher at Mexico’s National Fisheries Institute before collaborating with rural communities in aquaculture and fisheries activities. He has also worked for the Mexican federal government in the area of environmental law enforcement and as head of the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas (Conanp). Since 2019, Fueyo MacDonald has been an environmental consultant.
