Kai Chan is a professor at the University of British Columbia and holds the Canada Research Chair in Re-Wilding and Social-Ecological Transformation. Trained in ecology, policy, and ethics at Princeton and Stanford, he focuses on transforming social-ecological systems to be both sustainable and wilder. Kai leads the CHANS lab and co-founded CoSphere. He is a UBC Killam Research Fellow and a member of Canada’s Clean16 and Clean50 for 2020. Kai is also a Leopold Leadership Program fellow, senior fellow of the Global Young Academy, and coordinating lead author for the IPBES Global Assessment.
