Visiting a private school in Cincinnati area, we had a chance to look at what food was being wasted for one day's worth of cafeteria waste. Students determined their own categories to measure waste, including meat/dairy, unopened/shareable food, fruits/veggies, sweets, and other food. Students found that the sweets had the lowest amount of waste and meat/dairy had the highest. Based on their predictions before the audit using their knowledge of students at their school, the results matched what they would have thought.
