Join the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) for an introductory webinar on the CEC and its mechanisms for public participation, community engagement and transparency.

Offered as part of the Communities for Environmental Justice Network (CEJN) project, this webinar is open to members of the public interested in a general overview of the organization and its work related to environmental justice in the lead up to the 2024 Council Session.

The introductory webinar will present the CEC’s history, mission, structure and strategic priorities. The presentation will emphasize Indigenous engagement and the vital role of Indigenous Knowledge (IK) in projects and through the work of the Traditional Ecological Knowledge Expert Group (TEKEG). It will also feature the CEC public engagement mechanisms, including the Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC), the Submissions on Enforcement Matters (SEM) process, and community science and youth engagement opportunities.

The webinar will provide an overview of the work undertaken by the CEC to strengthen environmental justice through its grant programs to support community environmental action and climate resilience across North America, as well as the upcoming Council Session on “Strengthening Environmental Justice through Community Empowerment.”

This webinar will be delivered in English, with simultaneous interpretation to Spanish and French.
