Joint Public Advisory Committee Session No. 99-01

The JPAC Chair for 1999, Jonathan Plaut, opened the session by welcoming the participants and expressing JPAC’s enthusiasm for the impressive attendance. He introduced the JPAC members
and CEC Secretariat staff. He also welcomed and introduced the three new Mexican JPAC members.

He reported that JPAC had been very active since its last session, having held a special workshop on the proposed revisions to the Guidelines for Citizen Submissions on Enforcement Matters
under Articles 14 and 15 of the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC) and producing a draft Framework for Public Participation in CEC Activities, which is now out for public review
