Join the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) for a webinar on the importance and impact of storytelling, offered as part of the activities of the CEC’s Communities for Environmental Justice Network (CEJN) project.

This webinar is open to the public and designed for people, communities and organizations interested in better understanding the power of storytelling and integrating this into their practices. The speakers will share tips on how to tell impactful stories and support others in their storytelling journey, particularly to advance environmental justice and climate resilience.

Storytelling can help promote environmental justice and climate action by elevating the voices of marginalized and affected communities, bringing visibility to environmental challenges and burdens, and showcasing community-led expertise and lessons learned. Sharing stories has the power to drive positive change by diversifying and shifting the narrative and fostering meaningful community engagement in decision-making. Connecting with people emotionally and intellectually, and sharing struggles as well as inspirational examples, is a powerful force to help motivate others with similar stories and concerns to speak out, as well as raise awareness among decision-makers and drive them to take action.

This webinar will provide concrete examples of storytelling initiatives in Canada, Mexico and the United States that were developed to amplify people’s voices and community engagement, particularly in advancing environmental justice in the context of climate change. Those examples present local stories that put forward the perspectives of Indigenous Peoples, youth, and women.

This interactive webinar will include presentations and a Question & Answer period.

This webinar will be available in English, French, and Spanish, with simultaneous interpretation provided in all three languages.

A recording will be shared with all registrants in the weeks following the webinar.
