Public Consultation on the CEC’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan
The Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) is seeking comments and suggestions from citizens across North America regarding the draft 2021-2025 Strategic Plan of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC).
The CEC’s Strategic Plan outlines key priorities for environmental cooperation in North America. These priorities are established by the CEC Council, composed of the highest-level federal environmental authorities (cabinet level or equivalent) from Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The full text of the draft CEC 2021-2025 Strategic Plan is available here.
Based on comments received from the public, JPAC members will develop their official advice to Council on this draft 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.
The deadline to submit comments in writing is 16 April 2020.
For each of the strategic priorities and cross-cutting approaches established in the draft CEC 2021-2025 Strategic Plan (see document), please provide your feedback, taking into consideration the following questions:
- Under this strategic priority, what are the environmental issues and challenges facing North America over the next five years?
- What are the opportunities for the CEC, considering the organization’s mission and mandate, to address these issues/challenges over the next five years?
- How can the CEC amplify its work through partnerships in North America? Where in this Strategic Plan do you see opportunities for enhanced roles for stakeholders and citizens?
