Grasslands Conservation

Since 2000, the three federal Wildlife Services of Canada. Mexico and the United States, agreed to work together to protect 17 species of birds and terrestrial mammals considered " of Common Conservation Concern".

Given that the majority of these species are associated with grasslands, one of the most threatened environments in North America, and that their main threat is habitat disturbance and loss, the Biodiversity Conservation program of the CEC facilitated a process to guide conservation efforts for these species from an ecosystem perspective.
