The wildlife trade in Canada, Mexico and
the United States is regulated by national laws and through the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna
and Flora (CITES), a treaty signed by all three countries. With the passage of NAFTA, the three countries recognized the need for crossborder coordination of common environmental
issues in North America.
